Photo Caption:

Cold Spring Lighthouse, Long Island, NY from an old photo post card. In 1965 the Coast Guard removed the tower from its caisson base with the intention of bringing it to shore and burning it. However, a private individual purchased it for $1.00 and the lighthouse now stands on shore as a private home.
