John Gillikin, dressed in a reproduction lighthouse keepers uniform, climbs the steps of the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse for the last time. Having served as District Interpreter at the Cape Hatteras National Seashore, he has been transferred to Key Largo, Florida. He grew up on the Outer Banks and is a descendant of Cape Hatteras Lighthouse Keeper Joseph Gillikin. The uniform he is wearing will never be worn again as it will now be put on display in a glass case at the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse Museum.
