Two of the Chandler children, Mary and Joseph, are seen here with a calf at the Blue Hill Light Station in 1927. Young Mary died of appendicitis a few months later. She had to be taken to Ellsworth for medical attention, and her mother always felt that she might have lived if they had been able to get medical attention more quickly. Photo courtesy of Joseph G.
