The newly restored and renovated lighthouse at Sapelo Island, Georgia has been returned to its original, distinctive red-and-white bands. The re-lighted lighthouse will be operated by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources with the permission of the Coast Guard, and will have a light visible 12 miles out to sea, according to Buddy Sullivan, DNR Manager.
