Alfred Lemieux, 88, the last living person who worked on the construction of the DeTour Reef Lighthouse. Construction began in 1929, and was completed in 1931. Lemieux recalled that the "lighthouse was built on the old Watson Coal Dock and then towed out." He recalled that one of the 35 man crew was killed during the dangerous construction work.
