Maine's Crabtree Ledge Lighthouse was Capt. Joseph Gray's first assignment as a keeper in the U. S. Lighthouse Service. The lighthouse, built in 1890 was located near Hancock, Maine, in Frenchman's Bay. The lighthouse no longer stands, having collapsed into the bay in a winter storm in the early 1940s.
