Photo Caption:

Sand Island Lighthouse, Alabama was once part of a 400-acre island and is now surrounded by water and riprap to prevent it from collapsing. It is considered the last great masonry tower built on the Gulf Coast. The author's family has dubbed the lighthouse, "The Light of Love" as it was for her parents. Lighthouse Digest archives photo.
