ATLANTIC OCEAN - (Sept. 20, 2007) Mike O’Malley carries the remains of his grandfather, Ray O’Malley, to the stern of Coast Guard Cutter Escanaba, home ported in Boston to complete his grandfathers’ last wish, burial at sea. Ray O’Malley was the last surviving member of the crew of cutter Escanaba (WPG-77) that was sunk by German U-boats on June 13, 1943 during World War II. Back to the edition of: December 2007
