Loring William Myers, shown here in his lighthouse keeper uniform, served as the keeper of the Lubec Channel Lighthouse for an amazing 33 years. It was his meticulous record keeping and lobbying that eventually helped convince Congress to dredge the channel. When he retired he continued to stay busy and he loved to garden and tend to his apple orchards. Reasearching lighthouse history always has its twists and turns as is true with any type of genealogy research.
