Mutt, the faithful family pet of lighthouse keeper William H. Follett, died in 1926 at the Cedar Island Lighthouse. At that time, Frank and Louise Fithian, friends of keeper Follett, gave the Folletts a puppy named Brownie. Brownie remained a lighthouse dog for its entire life and passed away just a few months after Follett retired. (Photograph courtesy Bob Allen.) Back to the edition of: March 2009
