Connie Small, “The First Lady of Light” stopped in recently at Lighthouse Depot, just to do a little shopping. Many customers immediately recognized her and her visit suddenly turned into an autograph signing. Almost before we knew what happened, copies of her book, The Lighthouse Keeper’s Wife were gone from the shelves. This past June, Connie celebrated her 100th birthday, and just recently gave another one of her famous lighthouse lectures to a group in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Not bad for 100 years!

This story appeared in the October 2001 edition of Lighthouse Digest Magazine. The print edition contains more stories than our internet edition, and each story generally contains more photographs - often many more - in the print edition.
