Jim Streeter of the APLS announced at the meeting that West Mystic Wood Boat Building Company of Mystic, CT has offered to rebuild the lantern room of the lighthouse as an “in-kind” donation. The old lantern room will soon be removed.

The group is also gathering signatures on a petition requesting that upon restoration the lighthouse be again lit as an active aid to navigation.

The group is currently selling personalized bricks for $50.00 each that will eventually become part of the permanent part of the commemorative landscaped walkway leading up to the lighthouse.

To learn more about the lighthouse, to make a donation, or buy a brick write, Avery Point Lighthouse Society, P.O. Box 1552, Groton, CT 06340. You can also email them at APLS1941@aol.com.
