U. S. Coast Guard Band To Perform at International Lighthouse Conference

An event that you will not want to miss!

The United States Coast Guard Band, one of the finest professional concert bands in the world, will perform at the closing of the upcoming International Lighthouse Conference, “Kids on the Beam, Preservation Through Education” to be held this Sept. 17 -21 in New Bedford, Massachusetts.

This world famous band which is often called upon to perform at presidential functions, and other cabinet level occasions will perform on Saturday, September 21, at 1:30 PM at the Zeiterion Theatre in downtown New Bedford, Massachusetts.

Under the direction of Commander Lewis J. Buckley, the band has preformed at Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center and was the first American military band to perform in the Soviet Union. Commander Buckley has twice been awarded the Meritorious Service Award and he has received the Distinguished Service Citation from the American Legion for his composition, “The Purple Heart”.

The International Lighthouse Conference, sponsored by the American Lighthouse Foundation and the City of New Bedford is open to anyone with an interest in lighthouses. You are encouraged to attend.
