The Tsurai Ancestral Society has filed a complaint against Trinidad, California asking that the 1871 Trinidad Head Lighthouse be moved from its current location and that the land around it be turned over to the Yurok Tribe.

The Society wants to protect and maintain the identity and culture of the Tsurai, a people who formerly occupied the land that now makes up Trinidad. The property was deeded to the city in 1989 with a conservation easement retained by the California Coastal Conservancy which requires that the city protect the American Indian resources and allow public access.
