Shown here from an old press photo are survivors of the Lightship Nantucket LV117 being hoisted on board the RMS Olympic after the Olympic hit and sank the Nantucket Lightship on May 15, 1934.

Four crewmembers of the Lightship Nantucket were killed when the ship went down and three others died later from their injuries.

The RMS Olympic was the twin of the RMS Titanic. In fact Capt. Edward Smith, who was the captain of the Titanic, was also the first person to command the Olympic. As a point of interest it was Capt. Smith who was in command of the Olympic when it had a collision with a Royal Navy cruiser in 1911.

This photograph came to us from the efforts of Douglas Bingham.
