The collecting of old postcards, especially lighthouse postcards are a hobby that continues to grow strong. However, many collectors never read the writing, which can be an important part of history. For example this old postcard, date May 10, 1949, of the Connecticut’s Lynde Point Light (Inner Light) is from a contractor doing work at the lighthouse.
It says, “I have the plumbing and heating contract and septic tank for the big house at the lighthouse. It’s a two family house. I have been here 2 months. George”
Unfortunately his work only lasted until the 1960’s when the Coast Guard tore the house down and built a new one.
