This original rare photograph showing a large gathering of people for the laying of the cornerstone at Washington's Grays Harbor Lighthouse recently came into possession of Lighthouse Digest.
Grays Harbor Lighthouse, also known as Westport Lighthouse, established in 1898, is the tallest lighthouse in Washington. The historic lighthouse is located at the Westport Light State Park and is managed by the Westport-South Beach Historical Society. One of the highlights of visiting would be viewing the first order Fresnel lens on display from the Destruction Island Lighthouse at the Westport Maritime
Museum. Tours of the Grays Harbor Lighthouse are available. FMI: call (360) 269-0078.
