When the Carrabelle Lighthouse Association (CLA) was formed in 1999 to save the rusted 103 foot tall tower the task ahead of them seemed daunting. But, the money was raised, the work was done, a replica Fresnel lens was installed and the lighthouse was lit once again.

In her speech at the larger than expected attended ceremony, CLA President, Arlene Oehler, cited and acknowledged the many people that made the event possible saying, “Barbara Revell started the Carrabelle Lighthouse Association in 1999 with friends like Ruth Varner, who went door to door to solicit memberships. John “Lighthouse” Canetta has worked as the historian for CLA since its inception.

Amy Hartman wrote the Lighthouse Restoration Grant and continues as Webmaster.”

Nineteen certificates of appreciation given out also acknowledged the many others who were present at the event such as former CLA presidents, Mary Katzer, Ron Treutel and Mel Kelly, the former mayor.''
