With this year the 200th anniversary of Maine's West Quoddy Head Lighthouse, a special postal cancellation will be available during the July 19th Celebration. If you are unable to attend, you can still acquire the postmark. You need to supply the envelope and postage stamps, but there is no additional charge.
1. For each postmark wanted, prepare a self-addressed envelope with a 42-cent stamp. Most use a letter-size envelope, 3-3/4 x 6-3/4 inches.
2. Enclose in a larger envelope with a note requesting the special July 19th Lighthouse postmark and mail to "Postmaster, Lubec ME 04652."
3. If your prefer your specially postmarked envelopes without an addresses, also include a self-addressed envelope of sufficient size and postage.
Cacheted unpostmarked envelopes showing all three towers are available only from the West Quoddy Head Light Keepers Association, PO Box 378, Lubec ME 04652. These cost $1.00 each, with all income funding operation of the West Quoddy Head Lighthouse Visitor Center. You need to order yours early enough to mail them back to the Postal Service following the steps above.
