It's been a over five years since we reported about the Verona Beach Lighthouse, which is one of three identical lighthouses built on Oneida Lake, New York.
Since our last report in Lighthouse Digest the Verona Beach Lighthouse Association has made wonderful progress in their ongoing restoration of the historic lighthouse that was built in 1917. Their work has been in cooperation with the New York Canal Corporation and the Town of Verona.
Some of the accomplishments of the group since our last report includes clearing the land around the lighthouse to make it more visible, the base of the tower has been restored and whitewashed, new windows have been installed, asbestos has been removed, three local highway signs have been installed, a cement pad with four granite benches and a cement walkway installed and a crushed stone parking area with nautical ropes and poles was completed.
As they move forward the nonprofit group has ambitious plans for the future that include, installing an informational kiosk, renovation of the interior o fthe tower, improving the flashing light and much more.
