Little River Lighthouse, on an island off the coast of Cutler, Maine hosted its third annual community island church service for the Cutler United Methodist Church at the end of August. The service, which was dedicated in memory of Joseph Arruda, the brother of the church's former pastor, David Arruda who was on hand, along with his wife Jane and son Matt, for the service. Pastor Arruda also had officiated the first church service held on the island light station. The service was officiated by Pastor Steve Smith who also played the trumpet. Lighthouse aficionado Sharon Mills, who has visited over 1,100 lighthouses played the keyboard and special music was provided by Karen Staake, the treasurer of the Friends of Little River Lighthouse, which is a chapter of the American Lighthouse Foundation.
