New Zealand’s Lighthouse Postage Stamps Really Shine

New Zealand has been widely known for its beautiful lighthouse postage stamps that they have been issuing since 1891. However, this time, they have outdone themselves with the release of five new lighthouse stamps that will actually glow in the dark.

The $1.00 postage stamp features Dog Island ...

“Using clear ‘glow in the dark’ ink on postage stamps is a first for New Zealand Post,” says Ivor Masters, General Manager Stamps for New Zealand Post. “These stamps take on the life of a lighthouse: a landmark against a scenic backdrop by day; and a beaming light across the waves to warn ships of potential dangers by night.”

The lighthouse at Cape Brett on the $1.50 postage ...

The lighthouses featured on the glow in the night postage stamps are Dog Island, Cape Brett, Cape Egmont, Pencarrow Head and Cape Reinga Lighthouse.
