The most famous lighthouse post office in the world, located inside the newly painted Peggy’s Cove Lighthouse in Nova Scotia has been closed down. Officials of Canada Post said they were unable to reach an agreement with the Canadian Department of Fisheries and Oceans to make repairs to the inside of the lighthouse and eradicate mold at the site. Canada Post offered the post office franchise to the nearby Sou’Wester Restaurant and Gift Shop, but owner John Campbell said he wants the post office back in the lighthouse by the summer tourist season.
