Rotted and leaking basement windows in the tower building have been replaced with custom-made double-pane windows and other leaking windows have been temporally replaced with modern ones. The front door to the tower building has also been replaced with an historically accurate replacement thanks in part to a grant from Exxon-Mobile

Making the project easier is that fact that volunteers had previously made the necessary improvements to one of the station's duplex apartments so they could spend the night at the station and not have to worry about the 5 mile trip back at low tide.

The New Dungeness Light Station Association is also beginning a new ‘ride-along’ program to provide a means for members to visit the lighthouse who might not otherwise be able to make the 10-mile round-trip walk to and from the lighthouse. Members may be able to ride out with the weekly Keeper transfer on a ‘seat-available’ basis.

The group is now working to replace all the tower windows with historically correct modern dual-pane replicas. In order to fund this project, lighthouse fans are being asked to become Window Donors and sponsor one or more of the new windows. A section of one interior wall is being set aside so that plaques can be mounted to recognize each window donor and provide space for a memorial dedication if so desired.
