Established in the 1860’s the Boar’s Head Lighthouse is located in Petit Passage in the Bay of Fundy, Nova Scotia. The first keeper was Henry Ruggles who served for 37 years until his death in 1901. He was succeeded by his son, Frank, who served until his death in 1929. For a time the station also had an assistant keeper. In 1957 the lighthouse was replaced by a standard pyramid tower. Angus Smiley was the last keeper to serve at the lighthouse when it was destaffed in 1987 and he was sent to Machias Seal Island Lighthouse.
