Joseph Dudek, President of the Tibbetts Point Lighthouse Society, who did most of the research, said it was a daunting task to locate the names through the files of the National Archives, the Coast Guard and other nonprofit groups, and it is possible that someone might have been missed, but the task had to end at some point.

The dedication of the plaque took place on a day when the weather refused to cooperate.
