Shown here is the keeper’s house from Ned’s Point Lighthouse in Mattapoisett, Massachusetts as it was being barged to its new location in 1923 across the harbor to become the assistant keeper’s house at Wing’s Neck Lighthouse.
The photograph of the keeper’s house on the barge, courtesy of the Mattapoisett Historical Society, arrived at our office after we published the story in last month’s issue about the restoration of the tower at Ned’s Point Lighthouse. We felt the photograph needed to be published to help preserve not only the history of both light stations, but to show, once again, that there continues to be old lighthouse photographs and history that is waiting to be rediscovered.
