The amount of work that has been done in the past two years at Maine’s Goat Island Lighthouse Station can be described as nothing short of amazing. A large selection of photos of the restoration including the rebuilding of the long lost fog bell tower and the enclosed walkway that had been destroyed in a 1978 storm were previously published in the September/October 2011 and the November/December 2011 editions of Lighthouse Digest. These images here show the restoration and repainting of the tower.
Goat Island Lighthouse is located on an island off the coast of Cape Porpoise, Maine. It is now owned and managed by the Kennebunkport Conservation Trust the group that raised an immense amount of money to restore the lighthouse.
