The lighthouse was one of six limestone towers built in the Georgian Bay in the late 1850s, which collectively became known as the Imperial Towers. The other Imperial Towers, all in Canada, are Point Clark, Chantry Island, Cove Island, Griffith Island and Christian Island. Many now believe that the historic Nottawasaga Island Lighthouse will soon collapse and be lost forever, which would be a travesty.
