With the raising of the lantern room at the Louisiana’s New Canal Lighthouse the newly constructed replica of the lighthouse that had been destroyed in a double hit in 2005 by Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Rita has become a reality.
As we reported in the last edition, with photos of the lighthouse as it was under construction, much of the material of the original lighthouse was used in the construction of the new lighthouse. Although the lighthouse itself is completed, money still needs to be raised to complete the museum and its exhibits. To learn more, or to make a donation go to www.SaveOurLake.com.
