New Lighthouse Museum in India

A new lighthouse museum has opened at the recently reopened to the public Madras Lighthouse in Chennai, India. The Madras Lighthouse is one of the few lighthouses in the world to have an elevator.

Displaying various vintage and modern lighthouse equipment, as well as historic images and models, the new museum at the lighthouse traces the evolution of the lighthouse establishment in India. It is part of the nation’s long range plans to use their beautiful and historic lighthouses to promote tourism. (Photographs by ICR Prasad)
