Henry (Hank) Roesing traveled all the way from Alaska to visit with Marie McCoy so that the two of them could trace their family’s roots at the Matagorda Island Lighthouse near Port O’Connor, Texas where their great-grandfather, Joseph Forestier, was once the lighthouse keeper.

At the cemetery by the lighthouse they were able to find the gravesites of their great-grandmother, Adlene Forestier (March 1, 1854-May 3, 1901) and one of their children, William Henry Forestier, who died in 1888, a few weeks before his fourth birthday. Although records indicated that their great-grandfather is buried there, they were unable to find his tombstone, which might have been because some of the names have faded off a number of tombstones at the site.
