BM1 John Scott was the Coast Guard Officer in Charge (OIC), and MK3 Kevin Arsenault, on the tractor, at Maine’s Whitehead Lighthouse in 1978. With them was Fred, the lighthouse dog. Frank Wescovich, who took this photo and became the OIC shortly after the photo was taken, served at Whitehead for the following two years. Wescovich said that the old beautiful keeper’s house, shown in this image, never should have been deliberately torn down and destroyed by the Coast Guard. He said, “All it needed was some paint and little tender care inside and out.” Wescovich spent 20 years in the Coast Guard followed by an 18-year career as a Marine Police officer in Mississippi.
