In 2004 a fog bell tower that was based largely in part on the design of the fog bell tower at Michigan’s Little Traverse Point Lighthouse was constructed in Conkling Heritage Park in Mackinaw City, Michigan.

Although the fog bell in the Conkling Heritage Park was never used at a lighthouse, it was used to help guide train ferry ships to the railroad dock in Mackinaw City. The 1,500-pound bell was cast in 1890 at the Meneely Bell Foundry in West Troy (now Watervliet), New York. It was in use until 1952, the same year that the Meneely Foundry, which was founded in 1820, ceased operations.
