Plans are well underway to move Canada’s 1878 Cape Jourimain Lighthouse near Cape Tormentine, New Brunswick away from the eroding cliff.

Erosion has been a slow, but, ongoing problem here and in 1915 the lighthouse was moved back to protect it from falling over the cliff. The lighthouse was decommissioned in 1997 with the opening of the Confederation Bridge between New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island. The lighthouse is now within the boundaries of the popular Cape Jourimain Nature Centre.
