Save the Light, which has been fighting for decades to save the 161-foot tall 1876 Morris Island Lighthouse off the coast of Charleston, South Carolina, has received a gift of $10,000 from SeaPak Shrimp and Seafood Company. The money will be used for studies on the next step of the preservation of the historic structure, which is sometimes called the Old Charleston Lighthouse.
Save the Light has previously raised and spent millions to prevent the lighthouse from toppling into the harbor from the water that now surrounds it.
