Congratulations to lighthouse volunteer Buddy Grover who celebrated his 90th birthday this past September 24th. Since 2009, dressed in full uniform, he has been climbing the steps to the top of New Jersey’s Absecon Lighthouse to greet visitors who also braved the climb to the top of the nation’s third tallest lighthouse.
For his birthday celebration, at times when “Buddy” was not at the top of the lighthouse, a life-size cut out of him was in place so that visitors, one way or another, could get a photo of themselves with him. In lieu of presents, he requested donations to the lighthouse.
