This past August, the small community of Milbridge, Maine hosted a community lighthouse art project to raise money for the rebuilding of its local theatre.
The project, created by Gateway Milbridge, allowed local artists to paint ten seven-foot-tall lighthouses that were then displayed throughout the town’s small downtown business district, which happens to be on the heavily travelled U.S. Route 1.
The project culminated on August 23rd with a public reception for the artists, a cash prize, and an award to the winning artist that was followed by an auction for the lighthouses.
