Pelee Island Lighthouse To Be Restored

The 1833 Doomsday Listed Pelee Island Lighthouse on the Canadian side of Lake Erie is finally being saved thanks in part to the efforts of local volunteers and the Pelee Island Heritage Centre.

The lighthouse was discontinued back in 1909 and has been abandoned ever since. Although $75,000 has been raised so far, much of that money has been spent on placing tons of boulders at the base of the lighthouse to prevent further erosion. The volunteers need a lot more money to restore the lighthouse. Donations can be sent to:
