A Texas businessman has proposed to save the endangered Galveston (Texas) Jetty Lighthouse by moving it from the ocean to land.

The lighthouse, built in 1918, was deactivated in 1972 and has been abandoned ever since.

The plan calls for the lighthouse to be moved to the Galveston Island State Park, in the southwest part of Galveston, and be turned into a museum and interpretative center.
