The fog bell tower at Point Lookout Light and ...

In 1965, the United States Coast Guard discontinued Maryland’s Point Lookout Lighthouse and fog bell tower. Their function was taken over by a steel tower placed offshore. The fog bell tower was then moved to the grounds of the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum with funds donated in memory of Arthur Johnson Grymes, Jr. It was placed in close proximity to the Hooper Straits Lighthouse, which had also been moved to the site.
