Lighthouse Explorer Photo
This photo taken by Barry Porter, keeper of the lighthouse, on March 27, 2004 shows the station surrounded by "heavy pack ice." The ice drifts south from the Arctic to Newfoundland in the spring. Note the iceberg frozen into the ice, just to the left of the lighthouse, in the distance.
