The lighthouse can be viewed from the Cabrillo National Monument. (Public transportation: San Diego Transit route 26.) The current fee (August 2005) to enter the monument is $5 per car. From I-5 South or I-8 west: Exit at Rosecrans St., right on Canon St., left on Catalina Blvd. From I-5 North: Exit and left on Hawthorne St., right on N. Harbor Drive, left on Rosencrans St., right on Canon St., left on Catalina Blvd. Shortly after paying the fee, follow the road on the right to the Tidepools. Park in the tidepool area and a short walk will bring you to the New Point Loma Lighthouse. It can be photographed from the road. Also, if you walk a bit further you can take pictures from the Coast Guard parking lot, but do not park there. (Thanks to John Warnick.) Keepers: George Cobb (c. 1934-1938)
