Notes: This lighthouse was designed by engineer Robert Stevenson. This lighthouse and the higher tower (560 feet away) had problems with fog obscuring the lights. They were replaced by the Chicken Rock Lighthouse. When there was a fire at Chicken Rock in 1960, this lighthouse went back into temporary service. Height of Focal Plane: 282 Description of Tower: Conical stone tower attached to dwelling.

Other Buildings? Two-story keeper's dwelling. Date Established: 1818 Date Present Tower Built: 1818 Date Deactivated: 1875 Current Use: Historic site. Open To Public? Grounds only. Directions: It is possible to visit the Calf during the summer. Regular sailings operate from Port Erin and occasionally from Port St. Mary.
